Question

Hello Folks

I run RH6.1 linux on a Athlon PC and I'd love to
use the new 2.4 kernel.
Does someone know if it is as straightforward to compile and use, as a minor dot release, I am not sure after reading this otherwise good article.

http://linuxtoday.com/news_story.php...07-04-NW-LF-KN

Thanx for the answer!
/Magnus

Exclamation you'll need ...

Taken from Documentation/Changes:

o Gnu C 2.91.66 # gcc --version
o Gnu make 3.77 # make --version
o binutils 2.9.1.0.25 # ld -v
o util-linux 2.10o # fdformat --version
o modutils 2.4.0 # insmod -V
o e2fsprogs 1.19 # tune2fs --version
o pcmcia-cs 3.1.21 # cardmgr -V
o PPP 2.4.0 # pppd --version
o isdn4k-utils 3.1beta7 # isdnctrl 2>&1|grep version

Well, i'm installing it today, after work. Certainly, you must read the README file and Documentation/Changes, because there are some diferences to know (like above)
