Unhappy Scroll bar not functioning

Whenever I use man (or more precisely less) from a Mandrake terminal window it disables the scroll bar. When I quit out the scroll bar stays disabled (but remains visible). Is there a way I can re-enable it?

Please ignore this post - I'd delete it if I could. I've found that quitting out of less in the approved manner solves the problem fairly effectively.
