When I check the command "ifconfig", it only shows me "lo" but "ifconfig -a" shows me "lo" an "eth0" why is eth0 not up? I have assigned it address 192.168.0.2

What kind of NIC do you have? Do you know what driver it requires? Have you tried modprobe to see if it is loading the module? What about insmod, have you tried that?
You might want to go to http://www.linuxdoc.org and read the ethernet HOWTO there, follow those steps and see what happens.
