Familiar title ? - Again, not really a Linux only question.
Also found in my old 386, was an ISA
Sound Blaster Pro II sound card. I have recently got my ISA based onboard CMI8330 (or SoundPro) soundcard to work under Linux. Can you get 2 soundcards to work in one computer, possibly with the second used for the rear speakers in a semi-surround-sound setup?
I will have to do some serious tinkering for this to work (if it can) as the IRQ/DMA/IO for both cards is the same. The old SB card though, is not PnP compatible (it has those little jumpers on it for the settings).
I am trying to get this to work as I'm really quite a cheapskate
. I've already got one S/C that works (the CMI). I have 'found' an old ISA card that I know can work (after all, it did in my 386). I'm running short on PCI expansion slots, and really can't afford
another soundcard that does natively support surround sound - why would I want to waste a useful PCI slot when I
could use (in theory) an old ISA slot?
Oh, yeah. Since I have an old 386, could someone point me in the direction of info on BeoWulf/'Extreme Linux'. More than likely that it will be far to deep/complicated for me, but I'd like to at least read up on it.
Thanks again.
