Thumbs up

Hi,
I have Motorola SM56 PCI winmodem . Though I have
got the linux driver for it from Motorola .I haven't been able to install
and make my modem work under linux . The problem is that when I try to load
the module , it gives me list of non-existent global variables saying that
they are not found in spite of having the right kernel version 2.2.14 as
specified in docs .
I kindly request you to try the driver ... which is available for
download from my webpage at
http://www.members.tripod.com/sasins...Linux_beta.rar . The driver is from
motorola itself , and it is BETA version released for testing purposes . If
you are successful in making the modem work plz mail me at madanas@eth.net the procedure and
tweaks done , it would be great help to many of us who are trying in vain to
access net under linux .
Regards,
Madan A S

Good luck with that modem, Motorola stoped making drivers for it even for winblows.....if you like disconnects and weird errors then this modem is for YOU! Also u wont beable to get this modem to work with linux because it is a WINMODEM. and it is the worst winmodem made. sorry to break it to you...you should buy a good 3com or USR modem(hardware based) good luck

is that link correct, cant seem to open that web page..

i have 2 modems... sm56 and connexant.
ages ago i downloaded the linuxant driver for kernel 2.4.20-8
now ive upgraded my kernel, but they now CHARGE for drivers !!!!
how sucky is that !!!!

so now my only hope of keeping this kernel is getting my sm56 to work, (which it didnt before)
