Please Help!

I've just got Red Hat 7 up and running alongside Windows 2000.
My question is, how do i access my other drives? I've got 2 drives, one is split between FAT32 and linux, the other is all FAT32.

All my stuff's on these drives, the least i wanna do is play my MP3's while i'm learning this luvverly new OS!

Also I noticed that Samba was installed along with everything else. since i'm on a windows network here i believe (from what i've read) that it would be very useful. But I cant find it anywhere - any ideas??

Well, if you want to look at your Windows partitions, you can make it so they mount at boot time by editing your fstab file.

To mount its going to look or be done like this in a way:

mount -t vfat /dev/hda1 /mnt/windows

The hda1 all depends how you have your partitions or even separate drives configured. It could be hda2 or hda5, or hdb1...... let us know how you have it all setup, or try to be more detailed.

Cheers for that man, sorry I should have been more detailed about it. The partition on the shared disk is hda1. I have a feeling the other disk is hdd5 though i'm not entirely sure. Can I get into disk druid again to check it out?

Tough to say where Samba would be on your machine, check /usr/bin or /usr/local/bin.
You don't need samba to look at the Windows machines, but it is helpful to let them look at yours.
To look at the Windows machines, mount those partitions:
1. Make a directory for the "mount point" - typically, cd /mnt then mkdir winmachine or some other identifier for the windows machine.
2. mount -t smbfs //server/share /mnt/winmachine
where server is the name of the server, share is the name of the share you are mounting, and winmachine is that directory you created in #1. Of note, -t means the next set of characters identifies the file system you are mounting (think "type"), and smbfs is the file system you want to use for network shares with windows machines.

Depending on the OS, there may be password obstacles...

well, if you have more than one physical hard drive, it would be like this to determine the letter of the hda b c or d.

Primary IDE 1 - hda
Secondary IDE 1 - hdb
Primary IDE 2 - hdc
Secondary IDE - hdd

That might help you, or yeah, you could start the install again to look at them with disk druid, jsut don't change anything and terminate the install when done looking.

cheers everyone for your help! I got it all done now - my other hard drive was on hdd5 - i used dmesg to find it out.

As for the network thing i'm off the network in a coupla days so i'll forget about it and use windoze for the moment :]
