sounds like a silly question, but i have never had reason to alter the system time, it can be done by /usr/sbin/setup on my rh system, but is there a single command line program that can purly alter it.
i know there is the bios option as well.
i am just curious really, as it seems to be a basic problem, i don't really know how to do apart from using setup tool.

The command is "date".

#date MMDDhhmm.ss

Also see

#man date

for other options.
