Having been a win/dos user for a great many years I thought I do really need to get onto a very good OS seeing that win keeps crashing so I installed Redhat 6.0 and was surprised by the interface but I can't log onto my floppy with the Linux bootup disk from dos, my windows does not recognise my Linux partion and my Linux os does not seem to show a Cd-rom/Hard disk or Floppy disk are they all locked from what I have read from other postings, can someone help please.

I would like to mention that the moderators and good users who contribute post will reply to your messages as soon as they can. Some times there might be a delay because they are reseaching the best answer/recommendation. Don't feel hesitant to post any of your questions, we understand what it's going to take to unlearn some of the mind set things that has happen by only using Windows. Linux is much more organized as you'll soon find.

windows doesnt show linux partition, unless you using software like this : captain nemo (www.shareware.com / http://www.download.com), but limited on read only.

Can you not access Linux partitions form Linux? Or can you not access windows partitions from Linux?

You need to make it clear what you can't access in which operating system.

It appears that you cannot get access to Linux partitions in Linux, so check to see if they are mounted, by typing
mount
in terminal window, or if you dont use X (i.e graphical display like windows) type mount in after you have logged on. Either way it should show you what filesystems are in use.

To access the floppy, make sure that you have a folder ready to mount the floppy drive to. You should have one called /mnt. If you have insert a floppy and type,
mount /dev/fd0 /mnt
You should now be able to see the contents of the floppy.

Post back if you have had any success, and the contents of typing the mount command.
