I'm trying to install Red Hat 6.2 on an old laptop via FTP. The install starts out fine, but as soon as I connect up to my FTP server I get the message "Unable to retrieve the second stage ramdisk." I've already checked the LAN - that's working properly. The laptop's connecting alright, so my guess is that I have it pointed towards the wrong directory on the cd.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried using a different FTP server?

I've got it figured out now. The Red Hat 6.2 cd turned out to be bad, so I dug up a copy of 6.0 and that went in just fine. Well, right up to the point where it probes for the mouse and locks up... but that's something entirely different.
