Question


How do you change the information that is displayed at the login prompt? Mine still display the default info from my install.... The stuff like version and type of computer...... (Example - Red Hat Linux 6.2 for i586) How do I change that?

How about \etc\redhat-release or \etc\issue or \etc\issue.net

Be sure to take a look at /etc/rc.d/rc.local. On my RedHat system (6.0), this contains scripting to overwrite the /etc/issue and /etc/issue.net files back to their default.
