Question

I need the mars_nwe server to handle mixed-case filenames, as well as long file names in DOS and Windows9x.

When I connect to the nwe server via Windows95 (Netware Client) and use Explorer to look at the directory, the filenames are correct.

However, if I open a DOS-window and list the directory, the long filenames (right hand column) are correct, however, the left hand (8.3 format) filenames are not as I expect. i.e.

82081 ___ <DIR> 05/02/01 16:03 New Folder

From NDOS (Norton) no entries are shown for files/directories with long filenames.

I've tried various settings for case/namespace, I've added
the 'SupportLFN' key to the registry and 'system.ini'.

Does anyone know how to get the 8.3 filename to be 'read' correctly, so that a file called 'Long Filename' shows as 'LONGFI~1' (or similar) under DOS?

Software Setup:
SuSE 7.0 Professional (Clean Install)
SMArT 1.3
mars_nwe 0.99.pl19

Any help appreciated.
