Thumbs down

i was trying to help a friend of mine install caldera 2.4 over the phone, mine installed ok but his keeps failing. pc's are almost identical cyrix 233 chip 2 drives cd. he has 2 x 6.4 gb drives mines are older seagate 2gb's.
he keeps getting the error
58:terminated
In./etc/modules:cannot overwrite directory
segmentation fault
segmentation fault
panic: Oops, no valid root could be found! Lizard aborted?
press <return> to continue or "sh" for shell

any thoughts, my feeling is that he is not creating the partion and it has no where to install but he says he is

it's hard for me over the phone as i am not that linux literate as it is but i've installed it on about 6 different pc's and it's never been any prob except packman is hard without a joystick
