I've recently installed Mandrake 8.0. I have a nvidia riva tnt ultra video card. All the programs that use 3d accel. Don't work. Example Tuxracer and all other games won't open. Screensavers won't work either. Is there a way to see if it is working correctly or is there something I forgot, or need to install.

You might want to have a look at opensource.nvidia.com they have some drivers you will prolly need to get it running, as well as documentation for how to install them
the drivers you need to download are on this page... be sure to get the glx AND kernel drivers. you might have to play around with a few soft links to get the glx working, but the readme more or less explains that. i have nvidia on my box, and it works perfectly.
