Mail synchronization

Hi, can anyone there tell me how i can make my local mailbox (in my room) synchronize with a remote email account (at university). I can use fectchmail to get all new mail from the account, (or alternatively to get all mail and delete the mail on the remote server, but i need to be able to do it like Netscape does, so i can delete mail locally, and it then be removed remotely as well, under pine. Is this to do with sendmail? fetchmail? i dunno..

thanks
chris
