I have a PC share question. On my box, I am running Linux Mandrake 7.2, and on the other, I am running NT (it is my sisters, OK)

Now, she has a printer I would like to use, so I want to network the two. Linux to NT, then to printer. Right now, they are both on a dummy hub, which is connected to the net.

So why cant these machines see each otehr, but I can ping one another? I am sure it is something really easy, but for the life of me the solution escapes me.

Well, unless its a network printer, sounds to me you will have to setup samba so you can access and see shares on each computer. Don't know what it is, best to go read the howto at http://www.linuxdoc.org
There might be an easier way, its just I never mess with printers in Linux cause mine is only Windows compatible.

Samba config

I think that you should run samba on your box, I also run LM 7.2 but I have my printer attached to my linux box. The NT workstations login (they think it's an NT domain server, dummies) and print.

If you are going to setup samba check out http://www.phonax.com

He has some great samba.conf files to download.
