The previous thread about encryption algorithms gave me an idea. Why not have a LinuxQuestions distributed.net team. For those of you that don't know what distibuted.net is here is a little blurb from their website.
Quote:
As a "loosely knit" group of computer users from all over the world, we take up challenges and run projects which require a lot of computing power. We solve these by utilizing the combined idle processing cycles of our members' computers.

Basically they use the IDLE time on your computer and solve problems that would other wise be impossible or extremely expensive to solve. So far they have done the following:
- found the correct solution for RSA Labs' RC5-32/12/7 56-bit secret-key challenge
- found the correct solution for the RSA Labs' DES-II-1 56-bit secret-key challenge
- found the correct key to the RSA Labs DES-III contest
- found the correct key for the CSC contest
To join the LinuxQuestions team do the following:
1) Go to
http://www.distributed.net and download a client.
2) The first time you run the client it will ask for a user name.
3) Run the client for awhile (solve at least one block).
4) The next day go to
http://stats.distributed.net/rc5-64/ and click on Edit your information.
5) On the bottom of the screen click send me my password.
6) Now that you have a username and password goto
http://stats.distributed.net/pjointe...team=115018254 and join the team.
Sorry it's so involved, it's not as bad as it looks. Of course if you already have a username/password just skip right to step 6. If anyone has any questions let me know.
