I'm trying to install redhat 7.0 on a new Western Digital ata 100 drive. I don't believe the default is set to ata 100 but i'll check that now that i thought about it. Anyhow, at first attempt to install RH7 on a TYAN S1598 MB with a 233 MMX the drive could not be intialized. So I checked the drive with the wd diagnostic software and wrote the zeros to it and the software reported no problems with the drive. I then tried again and bang the drive intializes with disk druid. I go through the motions and set up three partitions: /4g, swap 128 mb, /boot 16mb and the system hangs!
I went out of my way to purchase hardware that would not give me any problems with RH7 but I could not find anything on large hard drives so I tried WD. Was this a mistake? What am I doing wrong?
