Has anybody out there succeeded in upgrading the kernel version of the Red Hat 6.1 Linux Distribution (I think itīs 2.2...)?
I have done the upgrade thing several time but I think I have screwed it up all the time since I havenīt been able to mount a DOS partition after the upgrade, although I have also configurated the kernel and then compilated procedures...

Any idea? Are there any pitfalls?

Thanks !

are you enabling support for DOS partitions when you configure the kernel? there are a couple of different options you need to get it to work. im not at my box now and i dont remember what they are. try xconfig.

Thanks for your swift reply, but I have run LINUXCONFIG and then enable DOS support (oh, gee,,, I donīt remember at this moment),,, What I know is that I select it as a Module and the I exit and save and continue to compile the kernel, and then when I reboot and try to mount it, it says:
Kernel doesnīt support the VFAT partition...

Question: are there any doc or help file in order to configurate the kernel and where I can select the right stuff without screwing the whole system?

Thanx again.........
