Hi,
I have both a standard CDROM drive and a CD Writer
(HP7200) in my machine. What is the recommended way
to connect these devices to the IDE ports on the
PC motherboard so that I can copy CD's on the fly
using cdrecord (XCDROAST)?

What I have now:

IDE1
------
CDROM drive [Master]
CD Writer [Slave]

IDE2
-------
Hard Disk1 [Master]
Hard Disk2 [Slave]

Is this the correct way to wire them up?

Thanks,
JohnA

Talking

most people put their hard drives on ide0 and any cdrom drives on ide1.You might have to recompile your kernel to make your cdr/cdrw work in linux. It depends on what version of linux ou have,ie RH 6.0,Slack 7.0,Mandrake 7.2...

Keeping them on the same channel is probably a good idea.
