Hi
I recently bought a new pc with Windows Millennium Edition (ME, sic)pre-installed. I have loaded Mandrake Linux 6.1 for Windows, but when I try to open Linux I get an error message about Windows ME not supporting programmes (?) based on DOS. Can anyone advise me how to run Linux with Windows ME or, ideally, how to strip out Windows ME entirely and replace it with Linux.

How are you loading Linux? Did you dual boot it? How do you have Linux installed? Linux won't run within DOS if that is what your trying to do or sounds like.

Let us know!

To get rid of Windows ME entirely, boot with your CDROM as the 1st boot device, boot up with your Linux CD loaded and it should detect and you can load from there....during the install, you can wipe out any partitions that Windows will be on.
