Question

Not sure if this is possible but we need to modify kernel parameters for memeory.
example SHMMAX VALUE 214748367
SHMMNI VALUE 100
SHMSEG VALUE 15 etc.....
We are using Redhat 7.0 and trying to setup Oracle8i
these are requirements for Oracle (tasks to perform as the root user)
Does anyone know what this might be about?
Any help would be appreciated

To change the SHMMAX VALUE you can type "echo 214748367 > /proc/sys/kernel/shmmax" as root.

Thank you for your response, I had found a site on RedHat that helped.
Ended up not needing to change the values after all, as long as we loaded 6.2 and then later upgraded to 7.0
