    Restoring stock Android boot animation

    Hi,

I'd like to remove the carrier branding on a Samsung Galaxy Ace.

There are some files under /system/media called: bootsamsung.qmg and bootsamsungloop.qmg.

If I delete these files, will the phone still boot? I apologize for the newb-ishness of the question, but I'm new to Android (but not to Linux) and I don't want to "brick" my phone.

    TIA.

You may want to consider flashing an unbranded ROM, which will get rid of all carrier branding and not just the boot animation. Be sure to do a nandroid backup before you do so (or before removing or altering the above files).
