Firmware for Samsung Ace 2 (O2 - United Kingdom)

    Hello,

Just a quick one; KIES keeps crashing when trying to do a firmware update (Jelly Bean) to a Samsung Ace 2 that is currently on Gingerbread (2.3.6) build GINGERBREAD.XXLK6 (The host PC is WIN7-32BIT) and I would like to obtain the latest firmware as a manual download and use ODIN to flash the phone; has anyone had success with this ODIN tool and can anyone suggest what the URL is to get the official O2 firmware for this phone?

I ask this as I imagine KIES connects to either an O2 / Samsung or Google server and in-turn downloads the firmware so surely there must be a URL we can visit to get the following firmware:

    PDA:MG2 / PHONE:MG2 / CSC:MG1 (O2U)

    Phone GT-I8160

I understand from another website that the firmware is I8160XXMG2

http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2332919 has a few download options available for this.

I managed to get the firmware from http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/

And followed a guide for Flashing the Ace 2; all worked surprisingly well; I didn't even have to manually plug in any cell network settings such as APN details etc................

Much easier than I thought it was going to be.
