How to boot from external sd card?

    Dear android experts,

I would like to boot a live CD image from the external SD card on my android tablet (BC1003). I have mounted the image on the SD card using Unetbootin.

This normally works fine on desktops and laptops, but when I choose "apply update from external storage" in the boot menu of my android tablet, it sees the folders on the card but does not recognize anything as a bootable image.

Is there any way to do this? And if not, can you tell me why? I have searched for the answer, but I could only find only apps which run Linux like a virtual machine (sort of). I want to run only live Linux.

    Thanks in advance

While you can boot Android from an external SD card, I'm not aware of a general purpose Linux that can be booted this way.
