Unactivated phone showing mobile data usage?

I was wondering how this is possible.
I have a Verizon branded HTC Droid Incredible 4G with a SIM card in it
but it is NOT activated with any mobile plan.

The strange thing is when I go to mobile data usage, it shows 2.18 MB used.

Well, that's weird but I think it may have tried connecting accidentally and haven't received anything at all and now the information the device has tried sending over the mobile data may be showing ! I some where feel that might be happening because of the bug !

Wow, that's really strange. May be it is due to the reason as Peter_Carlos explained or may be some other issue.

Weird indeed. Although obviously I can't use free data, when I try, the 3G icon shows upload activity and occasionally download activity.
Furthermore, the phone info system screen shows both upload AND downloaded packets.

I might take this over to XDA-developers forum

Well, I guess that would be the best option because it can get further more of the exposure over their ! I have heard that they have a lot of Android experts over their ! And getting out of problem like this one moving forward with the XDA would be a good option but also I doubt about the chances of getting your questions answered as I have tried doing that once but still after six months I haven't got any responses but I would say it worth giving a shot !
