I'm new to tablets and have a Chinese cheapie. I'm about to experiment with connecting a USB 3G modem to the OTG port in the hope that this will connect me to the Internet. Thought I'd post here to get info from anyone who's done this.

My main question is whether suitable drivers and support firmware are part of a standard Android installation, or whether I should expect to install them, along with relevant apps. I'm interested in being able to send and receive SMS messages once connected.

I vaguely recall that Linux requires a wrapper of some sort in order to use Windows drivers for wifi, but may be confusing different technologies. I'd be happy to read up on this if anyone can point to relevant info.

With thanks for any replies.
