Upgraded my Samsung Galaxy SII GT-i9100 to Ice Cream Sandwich - so far, so good. (now downgrading)

    Hello:

NB: I am a complete newbie to this stuff.

I just upgrade to ICS using this tutorial: http://www.theandroidsoul.com/galaxy...irmware-xxkp8/

For some reason, I had to do it twice. The first time that I clicked 'Start' in Odin3 v1.83, it took only 26 seconds and my phone would not start. So, I followed the directions in the tutorial and went back to step # 4. This time it took about 4 minutes and my phone was upgraded to ICS.

Odin3 v1.83 is included in the ‘I9100XXKP8_I9100OXAKP8.rar’ of XXKP8 firmware download.

So far everything seems to work just fine but, given my experience level in this area, I'm not sure I'd know if it didn't. All I know is that I can make & receive calls, texts and browse the web - just like before.

If it matters, I am using Petro Canada Mobility, which uses the Rogers network.

So, it has been about 27 hours since I upgraded to ICS and I am now going to downgrade.

I have not had any big problems, that is, I can call, text and surf but little annoying things happen when I change settings on downloaded apps from the Market. Sometimes the phone freezes and I have to restart the phone.

Like a number of people have said, ICS on the Galaxy SII GT-i9100 is not ready for prime time, if you are just a beginner like me.

Edit: The battery life was extremely short.
