Hey. There's a great feature on sonicwalls that allows a user (from the WAN) to login via a web page to a firewall, and upon verification, it opens up all (or certain predifined) ports to the IP that the user is logging in from. Does anyone know of a linux implimintation of this? Doesn't seem too hard to do w/ perl, but I'm not sure how secure it would be. The sonicwalls use a java applet to accomplish this.

Justin,

If you don't upgrade to the latest and greatest firmware release then here are some more features of SonicWall.

Admin gets IP Spoof alerts when using NetBIOS between the LAN and the DMZ.

Doesn't support H.323/NetMeeting between a SonicWALL and non-SonicWALL endpoint.

VPN tunnels uses IKE to remain disabled until SonicWALL is restarted.

A bug which caused automatically created rules to be lost upon a restore to factory defaults.

Multicast packets are cached.

The re-negotiate button intermittently stops functioning until the SonicWALL is booted.

Whoops. Sorry if i was unclear! I don't have a sonicwall. The feature that I'm speaking of is in sonicwalls, and it's a feature that I would like to find (or design) for my linux firewall.
