Question

Hi folks,

I'me looking for opinions on the best way to get a database with web support up and running on RH7.1 .

I would like opinions on what choices I have. I have read the HOWTO's and combed the web and see the choices as..

1
Microsoft Access for Databasing and Front Page 2000 Server extensions for Web Interfaces and presentation. I have heard about security concerns and would prefer a linux (or web) based system.

2
An SQL database with PHP for the web stuff.

What I am after is something that I can learn database concepts on and eventually use it for work.

All opinions very welcome,

Best wishes

Mike

Hi Nabil,

Thanks for that I've just installed MySQL !

May I ask if PHP has any advantages over Perl, I am have already made a start with Perl but have no experience of PHP.

Thanks for the help,

Cheers

I think Perl is more flexiable than php but I realy have not used both long enough. I think you will do just fine with Perl.
