Question

Would you know where I could find Linux drivers for the following devices.
I could not find anything related to Linux at the manufacturers websites:

Acer 50x cd rom, cd 650p
Acer CD-RW, 10x4x32

Rockwell PCI56 modem (Is this a "winmodem???"). If so, then what modem would you recommend that I buy?

Any good links that answer my questions would be appreciated.

Thanks

James

1) Most cdroms are supported by linux without the need for a driver.

2) CD-RW support is on a per program basis, so you would need to find one that supports your model. cdrecord looks like it supports a few Acer CD-RW's, but I am not sure if yours is one. http://www.fokus.gmd.de/research/cc/...iters-1.9.html

3) Rockwell (now Conexant) never made modems to my knowledge - they make chipsets. You would need to find the exact make/model of your modem to get a definitive answer on whether it is a winmodem or not. However, MOST PCI modems are in fact winmodems. For more information about using winmodems under linux visit http://www.linmodems.org/.
