Programming a BBS under Linux

Hey everyone, I was looking for a project I could work on since I just got a machine dedicated to Linux. And I always had an interest in Bulletin Board Systems (BBS). I know those days are gone but I was thinking of writting one that would be accessible via TELNET over the internet, I found some older BBS program source code that I can learn from. What are your thoughts on this? Thanks..

linuxquestions.org is a bbs. poke around and find a readme...

I miss the old days at 110 or even 300bps... so whatever you build make it slow enough to see the text actually fill the screen at a similar rate.
