When using RH 6.2 as a mail server with sendmail as an MTA. When i send a message to any user, it returns back with error "UNKNOWN HOST ---.---.---.---". Although i can send to the root . Also i can ping the machine by its name and i can ping any other host!

So you are sending mail to your RH6.2 box from an external client using SMTP yeah? Or sending from the localhost? And when you send the mail is it going to user@aBox.aDomain.net or are you sending to user@aDomain.net?

You say that you can ping by name, you using DNS or have you just edited /etc/hosts? Also where you getting the error - in the logs on the server or returned by the client's mail reader?

Some more details would be userful...

Good luck!

Jamie...
