Angry Major-trouble-domo!

hi all!
many thanks to jeremy and gonzo-john...i've solved the 'sendmail not available' prob..turned out that i was in smrsh enviroment (duh)..thanks guys!!

anyway, i got another prob here...i picked the option subscribe_policy : closed so that i can approve subscriptions myself...but when one of my users tried to subscribe herself, i got this 'APPROVE test' message in Pine :

Subject: Returned Mail : User unknown

----The following addresses had permanent fatal errors-----

test-approval@bonggo.example.edu.my

----Transcript of session follows----
550 test-approval@bonggo.example.edu.my....User unknown...

what could be the cause of this? In my test file (test is the name of my list), i have this:

test:"|/usr/local/majordomo/wrapper resend -1 test test-list"
test-list: :include:/usr/local/majordomo/lists/test
owner-test:zana,
test-owner:zana,
test-approval:zana,
test-request: "|/usr/local/majordomo/wrapper majordomo -1 test"
zana@bonggo.example.edu.my

and another thing...i've subscribed myself (before the option subscribe policy : closed )...but when i tried to post to the list, test@bonggo.example.edu.my...i was told that the user test doesnt exist....

what can i do so that i can post to the list?

help!

hi all!
i've installed and configured my majordomo....next i created a list called test and configured it to be restricted post only..and i've got these lines in my /etc/aliases file:

owner-test: test-owner
test: "|/usr/local/majordomo/wrapper resend -1 test test-list"
test-owner: zana,
test-approval: test-owner
test-list: :include:/usr/local/majordomo/lists/test
owner-test-list: test-owner
test-request : "|/usr/local/majordomo/wrapper majordomo -1 test"
owner-test-request: test-owner

but when one of my users tried to post into the list, i got this message in pine:

---The following addresses had permanent fatal errors----
"|/usr/local/majordomo/wrapper resend -1 test test-list"
(expanded from : <test@bonggo.kym.edu.my>)

---Transcript Of Sessions follows----
Unknown option: 1
resend: Getopts() failed: at /usr/local/majordomo/resend line 75.
554 "|/usr/local/majordomo/wrapper resend -1 test test-list"...unknown mailer erroe 255

what could have caused this?? please help me! THAMKS!

This is a rather obvious question, but I'll suggest it anyways. Are u sure you are running the newaliases since you've made these changes to the aliases file?

Ok, i guess i missed that you had already corrected some problems with sendmail and smrsh. Check the majordomo faq and the list archives for that error. In the faq somewhere there's mention of checking permissions on the directories down the chain. Majordomo is very picky about that.

Check this section and the next few: http://www.visi.com/~barr/majordomo-faq.html#2.1

Also, is there any errors in your mail log files?

I meant the log file for sendmail, which would be wherever your log files would be. For me it's in /var/log

The name is mail.log probably. Tail that and see what it's saying after you try one of these test mailings. It might be throwing a sendmail error that will help u pinpoint.
