"Not using Gnome Compliant Window Manager" -- Whazzis?

Some time ago, I was poking around and got the Gnome Panel to appear on my KDE desktop. This panel can be hidden, or I can choose to have it overlay the KDE panel. However, now I get an info box in the upper left corner of my screen every time I start KDE which complains about my not using a Gnome Compliant Window Manager. I am advised that "Gnowm support by the window manager is strongly recommended". I would prefer not to have the Gnome panel overlay or the error message.
Is there a config file somewhere that I need to change?
Thanks

It sounds like you are really trying to configure and explore Linux!

One thing you could do is to make sure that you have Gnowm installed, and if not try to install it. This is an interesting thing which you have done. Out of curiosity, how did you get to putting the Gnome panel in KDE?

I was playing around with the KDE pop-up menu, and somewhere in the menu selections, I found a selection for adding the GNOME panel to my KDE desktop. Where this is, I am not sure right now. I will have to click around the next time I am at my computer (Travel full time in motorhome and computer is therein - I am visiting with friends and using their W95 desktop)

Yes, I am exploring Linux to see if I can use it in place of Windows. I have become somewhat discouraged with the parochial behavior of Microsoft. However, Linux is not for your casual user. It's a good thing that I am retired and have lots of time, or I would have given up a long time ago.
