tar.Z??

How in the world do yu unpackage a tar.Z file?

point of reference: http://www.jwz.org/xkeycaps/xkeycaps-2.46.tar.Z/

please help a linuxnewbie its better than giving to charity!! :-)

something that ends with .Z has been compressed with compress .

just type

Code:
tar -Zxvf packagename.tar.Z
that should uncompress it and open the archive in one fell swoop.

alternativly you can run uncompress first on the file then tar like so

Code:
uncompress packagename.tar.Z
tar -xvf packagename.tar
