Display wont work

i just finished installing linuc mandrake 8.0 twice and every time i go to go in the GUI my monitor askes me "are the display settings correct", this means either the resolution is too high (i tried fixing this with Xconfigurator) or the refresh rates are too (most likely but i don't know how to change it)

also i keep getting this error that pops up that says something like: interrupt: Frame# 790 (frame numbers vary) that is as close as i can recall right now

an old hand-me-down monitor that I have no idea what the specs are but, everytime I install Mandrake, I go with the pre-selected generic monitor description when configuring X during install. Either DrakX detects what is needed or it is dumb luck.

I will try that,

and the exact erro message i amd gettin all the time is:
usb.Uhci.c: interrupt, status (2 and/or 3), frame# 760 (frame number varies)

If you got the right refresh specs you monitor can handle.. you can edit them manually with or in the XF86Config file. Though I don't recommend this, try doing another reconfig or you can try xf86config to do the text based X setup.
