lilo configuration

Hi all!

I have a machine that I would like to dual boot between RedHat and Slackware (both v7.1) and am unsure how to modify the lilo.conf to set this option up. I have installed RH first, and Slack next, and in the lilo.conf, put in a stanza for the RH installation:
it is on /dev/hdb5 in /boot/vmlinuz
However, when running /sbin/lilo to set the changes, I get a message that the kernel image file is not found at/boot/vmlinuz. This is becuase it is searching for it on the currently booted partition (slackware is installed on /dev/hdb7). I have told it which partition is the root for that OS, but it won't look there, or maybe it's not s'posed to. Is this setup possible, and any solutions?
TIA

The easiest way I found to do this when I installed two different versions of Linux was to do this. After the first install, copy down the info from the lilo.conf of your boot info in there on lets say the redhat distro.
then when you install slackware... you install lilo again and it overwrites the other lilo.conf and then from there after the install, modify and add the info for redhat and its boot info in lilo.conf, then run lilo and reboot... oh, and make sure each one has its own distinct name... usually by default they both want linux...as their name.
but depending on how you installed it, you should be able to work, just make sure all your info is correct... the /vmlinuz info and where the OS is installed on whatever drive.

RE:

I'll give that a shot and see what I come up with.
BTW, do you (or anyone) have experience multi-booting linux with any BSD distros or Solaris? I wonder if LILO can handle the bootloading for all of these various OSes, or will there be issueS?
TIA

I have only done Lilo with Linux and Windows OS's. Not sure on that one... but makes me want to find out even for myself for future purposes.
