Arrow Linux Up?

Hey folks,

Just an odd question.

When Linux boots up, I have two options:

Linux &
Linux Up

If I go with "Linux," then the boot process starts, but stops after the words "Press I for interactive startup." But nothing happens if I press anything, except for a bunch of weird characters getting written to the screen.

If I select "Linux UP" then everything's cool.

Just wondering what this means...

I'm running RH7.1 - and haven't made any changes since the install - it's always come up this way since I installed. I pretty much accepted the default install parameters and programs, though I added a couple programs to the install process, like Samba and VNC.

Yes - editing the lilo.conf file and then running the "lilo" command worked. After doing some research, I found that "linux-up" is the bootable image for a standard installation, and "linux" is a bootable image that can be used for computers with mutiple processors (SMP).

Thanks for the help!
