Exclamation 2 problems! modem and sound

Hey! I'm new to linux and this forum. Anyways, I can't get SuSE 7.2 Personal Edition to setup my:

1. Sound Blaster Live! value card
2. 56K PCI Conexant Whitehorse (GVC) V.90 modem

My sound card is autodetected by Yast2. Kmix and alsaconf detect it and the volume adjusters are all on medium setting. I've turned my speakers up full and still no sound comes out of the 'test sound' button nor when i place a music cd, does sound come out.

For my modem, it doesn't detect it at all, so my only option is to manually set it up. I'm sure it's not a WinModem. I have used KPPP and set it to use STTY01 along with XON/XOFF and it CAN establish a connection btw linux and the modem, but I can't do the same with YaST2?!

please help me, i really want to get the net going with sound...

thanks all

Not sure about your distro, should be a sndconfig that must be run for sound to work. Then there are issues in the conf.modules or modules.conf (whichever you have) to asign the alias for the driver.

Sorry but I do not have that card and don't know the specifics on it.

Post as much info as you can about it and someone will know.

Does your cd have a play button on the front?
