Lightbulb Restarting samba

What do I have to do so that samba rereads smb.conf?? I guess its not the smart way to kill the smbd daemon and then restart it?

All I know is to restart
The only way I thought there was, was to type

samba restart

If there is another way then it would be a big help

I've always done it by getting the PIDs of smbd and nmbd (using ps -ef | grep mb) and then send both processes a SIGHUP using kill -SIGHUP pid1 pid2.

I've done it a bit more simply, in redhat 7.1 you can do /etc/init.d/smb restart

just running the init script with a restart option - quick, clean, but is probably different in Suse...
