cdrom will not mount

Hello everyone; I installed a new cdrom and low and behold it did not work it just sat there (Gnome and KDE) saying mounting cdrom for about 3 minutes before I shut it down which I could not do so I had to shut down the the system. During the shut down it told me that the cdrom was busy and gave me an error number 512. So I took out that cdrom and put my old one back in and it does not work now either any suggestions.

What happens if you try to mount from the command line? What about your fstab and what does it look like?

my fstab lokks like the following:

/mnt/cdrom /mnt/cdrom supermount fs=iso9660,dev=/devb/cdrom 0 0
