As a newbie, I hope this question will not bore most of you - but I will appreciate any help!
I operate Compaq 200MMX 4GB, 88 RAM. Did the partition of my HD as : c: 2GB, d: 1 GB and left the last partition for Linux.
When I tried installing Corel Linux, it goes all fine untill after Hardware Detection (which seems to go fine), but then it prints Corel Linux Graphics and, following, I just get ate least 15 lines of: "HDD error sector..... and it keeps on with different sector numbers untill it finishes with: HDD Tray Open: kickes me out of installation and restarts booting Windows.
Tried entering manualy into Rescue option. When I enter FDISK two abnormalities show up on (p) option:
1. Partition HD3, does not end on cylinder boundary: phys (1,14,63) should be (1,239,63)
2. Both HD2 and HD5 start and end with the same nuber cylinders.
It seems that Linux has recognised all my partitions: HD1 (Dos); HD2 (Extended); HD3 (Unknown?? - perhaps Compaq partition) and HD5 (Dos).
Please help me to finally install Linux!!!!
Thanx a lot,
bobirt
