More on VNC
VNC is a great tool to use.
You should be aware however that besides the somewhat encripted login it is completely unencripted and anyone snooping around can see what you are doing, get you passwords, read your files and anything you do on it.
Before using it consider this.
Here is a better way to do it.
Log in with ssh, lets say on port 5901. Redirect local port 5901 to another port say 5951.
Ok now startup vncserver using ssh console, never just leave it running all the time, unless you are connected on it.
you will then log on vnc to port 5951 which is local. Therefore the vnc traffic is tunneled through ssh and encripted with I think is a 768 bit key.

Very simple to do. And don't use telnet, same deal with security. Even your password is clear text with telnet.
