Swap partition

OK, I have 384MB RAM and a 258MB swap partition for linux...

Is this enough? When I look in the ProcessViewer, most of the time my swap-partition is - mainly - empty...

Or should I enlarge the swap partition

If so, how do I do this without losing data or without having to re-install my system...

P.S.: is it necessairy after all to enlarge the swap partition or not?

I run with 256MB and never use any of my Swap partition. Linux uses very little memory compared to some other operating systems that could be mentioned. 384MB Will be plenty unless you are planning to do some scary stuff under X.

To add more swap you typcially create another swap partition somewhere. You can have as many as you want AFAIK. Linux will then balance it swapping between them.

HTH

I agree with trickykid and jharris. I've got 256M RAM and a 128M swap, which hardly ever gets touched.
