Exclamation

I am presently running Mandrake 7.1 and Win ME on this desktop. The Windows OS is for surfing the net (I'm too cheap to buy a new modem and this one is a Conexant SoftK56 PCI modem (Winmodem) and for GAMES!

Is it possible to enjoy Diablo II, Half Life etc. on Linux?
My Voodoo3 card is recognized by Linux but the Monster Sound MX300 is not. Can Linux keep from bogging down during the translation? Will I need Win4Lin?

Thanks.

Try this site out. It has all your gaming needs in getting most games working under Linux usually using Wine. http://www.linuxgames.com/

Talking

i have noticed that there are some linux servers for half-life(counterstrike) on the server list for deathmatch games, so i don't see why you wouldnt be able to get it to run in linux! maybe they made a linux open-gl version but it is not popular enough for best buy or whatever to sell

hmmm

I dont know much but i think ID software did linux ports of the binaries you could DL for free so you just needed the original CD to copy the stuff to your hd and then use the free binary to run the game (dont know if there was/is a dedicated linux retail for Q3)

The HL linux server stuff seems to be just a server binary.
At least thats what fileplanet has to offer.
