Problem compiling in Forte for Java

I made a mistake so I edited - what else can I say ...

I've missed somthing somewhere - can anyone tell me where?

In the Forte IDE, the compile and build buttons in the GUI are disabled whenever I edit one of my files from the Source Editor, so effectively I can write and save a file but I can't compile it!

At first I thought !aha! - file permissions (I'm used to using Forte with the other OS!) but that wasn't it.

The -jdkhome variable is set at execution time with a simple script to run the IDE from an launcher icon without needing to run it in a terminal window.

I edited the etc/profile file to point to the JDK and JRE and I can compile from the command line but just .... not .... from .... the .... editor .... gaaah!

I've checked the global variables in the editor and the directory is not mounted as read only. Can anyone tell me what I've missed?

Thanks
