timr LQ Newbie Registered: May 2001 Posts: 1 Rep:	Having problems getting X working. Just installed Mandrake 8, and Redhat 7.1 : Same Problem. Login, startx then works for about 5 seconds then machine hangs. Got to confess this ones got me beat, tried taking out all cards and many different bios settings, swapped the Matrox G400 for a TNT2. KDE seems to last a little longer Gnome (about 10 secs)! Also, sometime I can CTRL ALT BACKSPACE out of X but othertimes it just hangs. Machine Config -------------- MSI 694D Pro, 2*933's P3's (not OC'd). Matrox G400 or TNT2 USB or PS/2 mouse
