The response from you guys in here has been awesome. I really appreciate all the help. I love Linux, and have had to "wing it" on my own, till I found you guys. Much Thanks.
Now here's the prob. I tried to upgrade kde from 1x to 2x, and got alot of dependency and conflict msgs while trying to install with "rpm's" on Redhat 7x, now I can't start kde at all. I also use Gnome and wanted to know how I could totally remove kde1x, then install kde2x from within Gnome, if that's possible?
Thanks.

sure, use gnorpm or grpm, remove 1.x and install 2.x, the rpm prog.and database are independent of the window managers, so you can install gnome apps from kde and kde apps from gnome etc,
