I've just installed GNU/Linux Mandrake 7.2 on a spare harddrive in my PII and all is well. But a computer without the internet is like a man without a penis and kpppd will not let me select USB as the bus to use for my modem, only COM 1-4. I've tried to change the link /dev/modem from com to usb but I don't really know what I'm doing. Could I create a link pointing to /proc/bus/usb/devices, which details the modem, call the file modem and stick it in /dev, replacing the original file? Am I talking crap?

Help will be very much appreciated!

James Cole
