Sound card confgured OK But no Audio from CD

My sound card Ok. CD 44x has sound cable to sound card and works fine in Windows 98,
Richo DVd /Rw drive is slave. Mandrake 8 icon on desktop for this drive can load Audio files when loged onto internet. and text files of the tracks are on the KSCD player
But as no cable is connected to this drive there can be no sound.
I wish to use CD 44x max which is Master drive as audio Cd in Mandrake
How can this be configured to play music Cds?
Maurice

does the cd appear to be playing?
have you turned it up using xmixer?
have you installed the soundcard?
do you get any errors?

To Acid Kewpie
1. Soundcard is installed and working
2. Aumix in Mandrake8 is configured qurectly.
3.Cd rom-Device . /mnt/cdrom /mnt/cdrom supermount.
4. CDDB Dialog SMTP ok!
5. I do not fully understand Why you have to log onto internet inorder to run audio from KSCD player.
Same drive works with no audio playback problem in Win98.
as cable is connected to CD and soundcard.
Any further solutions?
Maurice
